Bradford, VT- Genevieve T. Fleming of Bradford was delivered into the arms of her savior on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She was 91 years old.
Genevieve May Tucker was born in Burlington, VT the oldest of Elsie (Metcalf) Tucker and Kenneth Warren Tucker and was raised in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. In 1946 she moved to Washington, DC where she worked as a clerk/typist at the FBI and where she met her first husband, Malcom Slagle with whom she raised three sons. After the Slagles divorce, Genevieve met William “Bill” Fleming and they were married in 1974. The Flemings moved to Mattwamkeag, Maine and ran the B&J General Store for more than twenty years. After retiring to Romney, WV., the Flemings in 2008 moved to Bradford, VT.
Genevieve was known for her easy laugh, frequent stubbornness and warm sense of humor. In her younger years, she collected coins and antiques. Later she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and throwing snowballs at cars.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Warren Slagle and John Scott Slagle both of Virginia, her brother, Wendall Tucker, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and more cousins, nieces and nephews than you can shake a stick at can be counted. She was predeceased by her husband William Fleming, her youngest son Timothy Malcolm Slagle and one sister, Arlene Tucker Thompson
Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring in the family lot in the East Orange Cemetery
