The Piano Brothers

North Thetford, VT-Wesley Eugene Clay, 71, of North Thetford VT passed away on Feb 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.  Wesley was born on May 15, 1945 in Hanover NH, the only son of Ernest and Josephine (Godfrey) Clay.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lois, of 50 years; daughter Ellen and husband Doug Stone, of Thetford Ctr.;  daughter Amy Hodge; son Daryl Clay and wife Carrie, all of North Thetford; granddaughter Kaitlin Hodge, two grandsons Ty and Hunter Clay, sister Diane Clay Osgood, also of North Thetford; his two feline "nurses" Lilly and Mia; his Aunt Barbara Smith of Hanover, NH; his Uncle Dick Godfrey of Lebanon, NH;  his Aunt Ruth & Uncle Roger Jenks of Lyme NH and many cousins. He is predeceased by his parents.

He attended Thetford schools, and helped his father on the family dairy farm, and at his Uncle Edwards farm.

After being introduced to tractors at a young age, in his free time, he could be found tinkering on many old tractors, or attending various tractor shows. He was particularly interested in the Allis Chalmers brand, and enjoyed spending his time with the “Tractor Guys’’ (Dale, Harry & Bill).

He and his wife enjoyed camping at Pine Haven Campground, in Wentworth NH, and always enjoyed a "good fish dinner" at Georges Restaurant in Plymouth, NH.  He and Lois also enjoyed camping with their children, and grand children.

Wesley enjoyed sugaring as a child with his Uncle Edward, and throughout his entire life. This hobby was passed onto his son in law, Doug, after spending many late nights together around the arches at Uncle Edward's sugarhouse.

He was previously employed as a truck driver for many years, for various employers. Most recently he was employed by Jay's Septic Tank Cleaning, up until his illness.

Towards the end of life, he was able to be at home, spending many hours with his sister Diane, and various friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Upper Valley Humane Society, Enfield NH.
