West Newbury, VT--Sharon V. Rogers, 72, passed away quietly on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH.She was born in Woodsville, NH on August 16, 1945, the daughter of Chester Elliott and Marian (Phelps) Elliott. She spent most of her childhood in South Ryegate, VT and graduated from Woodsville High School in 1963.Sharon married Steven J. Rogers on July 6, 1963 and they were blessed to spend 54 years together on Rogers Hill Farm in West Newbury, VT. where they raised four children. She is survived by her husband Steven Rogers, Sr. and children and grandchildren: Steven Rogers, Jr. and wife Katie (Baldwin) Rogers and their 5 children, Noelle Jean (Rogers) Beyer and husband James Beyer and their 2 children, Christine Alma (Rogers) Smith and fiance Jim Fairbanks and her daughter and granddaughter, and Tammi Lynn (Rogers) Parker and husband Lester Parker and 3 children and 2 grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Marian Elliott and her sister, Barbara Elliott.Sharon was a sweet, hardworking, quiet, woman who made a life of serving her family. She was an instructional assistant at Newbury Elementary School for a brief period. She was the accountant for the many businesses she and Steve ran through the years, including Rogers Transportation and Rogers Rubbish Removal business. She was a trustee at the Newbury Library and a part-time postmistress for West Newbury for many years. She will be remembered for her soft voice as she dispatched the base radio for the busses mornings and afternoons. She drove a route for area students for many years.Sharon loved her life in the country. She took great pleasure in tending her huge garden to feed her large family through the winters and in creating a loving home. She enjoyed reading and crosswords and a quiet cup of coffee to start her day. Sharon will be remembered by family and friends for the kindness of her heart and the peaceful joy she brought wherever she went. Other people always came first and she willingly gave her time for school plays, sports practices, clubs, Newbury Alumni hospitality table and many, many potato salads, cookies and other donations for many different celebrations and family gatherings. She will be dearly missed.A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2 pm in the Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT with Rev. Harvey Bartlett officiating. There are no calling hours.
