Bradley E. Houghton, Sr., 81, of Powder Spring Road died Monday, December 17, 2018 at home.
Born on November 11, 1937 in Hardwick, VT, he was the son of Marion Houghton Ennis and Raymond Ennis.
Bradley grew up in Wolcott and Danville Vermont. He attended Danville High school and graduated 1957. While in the Army he attended Engineering school.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and retired in July 1982 as a 1st sergeant E8. He served in Vietnam in the summer of 1969. While in the Army he earned many decorations some include, Good Conduct Medal with sliver clasp (2 loops), Army accommodation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M16 and many more.
Bradley drove the school bus driver for Blue Mountain Union School for 19 years.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who supported, taught, and cared for each of children and grandchildren. He enjoyed Fishing, Red Sox Baseball, and cheering on his children and grandchildren in their local youth and high school sports careers.
On February 14, 1973 he married Jeannette Terry who predeceased him on July 6, 2008. His Brother Gordon Houghton predeceased him in 2005.
Survivors include three sons: Bradley Houghton, Jr., and wife Cindy and George Houghton II and wife Jennifer all of Groton, VT, and Charles Thomas and wife Jennifer of Bowling Green, FL; five daughters Linda Lucas, Darlene Daniels and husband Larry of Groton, Diane Gove and family, Georgette Moyes and husband Monroe NH, Lynette Thomas of Eastman, GA.
Grandchildren: Olivia, Veronica, Gabby, Madalyn, Emily, George III, and Brock Houghton. Rose Rugg, Bud Prior, Kimberly Thomas, Jessica Thomas Hernandez, Joseph Thomas, Carrie Bogie, Hannah Goguen, Bethany Ketchum, Katie Williams, Brandon Moyes, and Misty Lucas. Great grandchildren: Steven and Hunter Rugg, Harrison, Jayden and Raymond Prior.
Nephew: Joseph Houghton and wife Kris of Longmeadow, MA.
Burial will be in the spring at Groton Cemetery with celebration of life to follow.
