After an honorable discharge from the US Air Force, he moved to Franklin, MA. He was employed for many years as a fork-lift truck mechanic at General Motors in Framingham, MA. Throughout the 1970's and 80's, he was busy raising his family, and always encouraged his sons to give their best effort at whatever they do from academics, to sports. He retired from GM in 1988.
In 2000, he moved to Fairlee, VT. He enjoyed spending his days riding his bike and walking around the golf course at Lake Morey, frequenting the Fairlee Diner with friends, cruising in his Chevy Monte Carlo, and attending Dartmouth College football games in the fall. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren all of whom he was extremely proud. He was also very active with the Thetford Academy Alumni Association.
