Jean Farrar Munn

Jean Farrar Munn, 89, passed away March 26, 2018 from pneumonia at home in Lebanon, NH.  She was born April 28, 1928 in Champaign, Illinois, daughter of Milton Dyer Farrar, PhD and Helen Tremain Farrar, MA Ed.  She grew up in Urbana, Illinois, then moved with her family to Durham, New Hampshire in 1946.

While attending UNH, she met Ralph H. Munn, Jr. of Fairlee, VT (UNH Class of 1950).  They were married March 30, 1951.  After the youngest of their 4 children began school, Jean became a Registered Nurse in 1970.  She worked in the Maternity Department of Brokaw Hospital in Normal, Illinois for 15 years.  

They moved to Thetford, VT in 1985.  She continued her love of working with mothers and babies in the Maternity Department at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH.  She assisted with the move from MHMH to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in 1991. 

Jean was an almost 70 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Connecticut Valley Chapter 42 in Orford, NH.  She enjoyed swimming, canoeing, bicycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, needlework, and traveling.

Jean is proceeded in death by Ralph, her husband of 52 years; her parents, and her sister Janet.  She is survived by her brothers Lloyd Farrar of Norris, TN, and Curtis Farrar, his wife Catherine of Pryor, OK. Her 4 children, Cheryl Munn-Watley, her husband Mack of Standish, ME; Debra Bier, her husband Curt of Peoria, IL; David Munn and fiancé Judy of Wilmot, NH; Barbara Munn Emery, her husband John of Manchester, NH; 8 grandchildren: Chris (Phaedra), Ben (Libby), Katrina (Nick) Bier, Brittany (Patrick), Ashleigh Munn, Phillip (Barbara), Stephen, Sean (Heather) Keech;  3 step grandchildren: Kristen (Brian), Kerri, Jonathan (Amanda) Emery, 8 great-grandsons: Wesley, Aaron, Caedmon, Gavin, Logan, Mitchell, Ian, and Jensen and 3 step-great granddaughters: Rylie, Lylah, and Morgan.

A Funeral Service will be held at __pm June 13,  Thetford Baptist Church in Thetford, VT at 11:00am Saturday March 31, 2018.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to:  The Haven in White River Junction, VT; or a women’s and children’s support program of your choice.
