Alfred C. Hansen

White River Jct., VT- It is with heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved father, grandfather (Papa), and friend Alfred C. " Al" Hansen on February 14, 2015 at his home in White River Jct., VT. Al was born to Sigveld and Thyra Hansen on July 10, 1922 in Islip, New York. Al was a wonderful story teller and would often reminisce about his childhood in New York, the different place he lived, his high school years, getting to play a basketball game in Madison Square Garden, working at Grumman Air, serving as a Marine in World War Two, courting Charlotte and marring her, the move to Vermont, and family life on Pike Hill in Corinth, VT. Alfred's pleasures were simple. He loved spending time with his family and especially going to Newfound Lake and Old Orchard Beach and square danceing with Charlotte. Alfred was a carpenter by trade and would putter with different projects long after he retired. He is preceded in by his parents, his wife of fifty-seven years, Charlotte Damm, siblings, Sven, Diane, Hans, and his son Bruce. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Gavura (Patrick), Pamela Latimer (Brian Tufts); grandson Zachary, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Al often mentioned how terrific Susan McCoy and his Visiting Nurses from the VA were to him; especially Deb. Alfred's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care and friendship hr received. Al had only moved to his home in White River a few years ago but was fortunate to be surrounded by the best neighbors a person could have. We thank you helping and looking out for him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2 pm at the East Corinth Congregation Church in East Corinth, VT. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held in the spring.
