Alice (Eggleston) Payne

Newbury, VT-Alice Faye (Eggleston) Payne, 75, of Main Street died December 1, 2020 at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH.She was born February 10, 1945 in Boston, MA the daughter of Ernest Eggleston and Olive (Claflin) Eggleston. Alice lived most of her life in Topsham, VT and was a 1963 graduate of Bradford Academy in Bradford, VT.On September 9, 1969 she married Kenneth Payne, who died September 2, 2005.Alice had many different jobs throughout her life, but most enjoyed working with the senior population by attending Senior Meals, Senior daycare and driving folks to appointments. She was a member of Tops, the local Red Hats and many other local activities which kept her active.She once saved a life when her brother Gary fell through the ice on the brook and she was able to pull him out, and act he is forever thankful for.Survivors include two children, Scott Payne of Randolph, VT and Mikeal Payne of Phoenix, AZ, brothers and sisters, Gary (Linda) Eggleston of Orange, VT, Holly Wheeler of Waits River, VT, Carol (David) Partington of Danville, VT, Pamela (Robert) Partington of Waits River, VT, Ernest (Cheryl) Eggleston of Waits River, VT, Robin Davis of North Haverhill, NH, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jolene Payne.Graveside funeral services for family only will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1pm in the Waits River Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
