Piermont, NH- Arthur J. James, 82, of Church Street in Piermont died on Friday, February 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Victory, VT the son of Frank and Hazel (Hatfield) James. He was in the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. On September 5, 1952 his was married to Creole Dexter who predeceased him. He had been employed for a short in at DC McLams in Bradford and for many years at Cone Blanchard in Windsor, VT as a machinist until they closed he then went to work for the New Hampshire Highway Department until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, fishing beekeeping and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by one son, Bradley James of Piermont, NH.; three step-children, Barbara Stimpson of Bradford, VT., Dexter Knapp of Pike, NH and dale Knapp of Newbury, VT.; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; one brother, Delbert James of Bradford, VT. He was predeceased by one grandson, Shawn Stimpson and several brothers and sisters. Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring in the family lot in the East Corinth New Cemetery in East Corinth, VT. There are no calling hours.
