Claradella Betts

THETFORD CENTER __ Claradella (Snow) Betts, 94, passed away on June 12, 2016, at home in Thetford Center, Vermont while surrounded by loved ones.She was born October 14, 1921, in Barre, the daughter of Leon and Mattie Snow. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1938 and University of Vermont in 1942.She married Charles Betts in Chelsea on September 4, 1947.Mrs. Betts was an Extension Agent for the state of VT. She then went on to teach home economics at Thetford Academy for 23 years. She was also a past Town Clerk for Thetford.She was known for involvement in her community. From singing in church choirs to helping local third graders with their annual puppet shows, Mrs. Betts was a popular and loved citizen of Thetford. Children and adults alike looked forward to eating her famous baked goods that she often made for various occasions. Her sewing skills did not go unnoticed either; she even costumed the high school musicals for many years. She also found happiness in tending to her beautiful gardens.Survivors include three sons, David Betts of Natick, MA, Leon Betts of Waterbury, and Jed Betts of Thetford Center; two daughters, Janet Bingham of Burley, ID and Marty Betts Moses of Thetford Center; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Betts in 1966; one son, Albert Betts; and a brother, Albert Snow.All who knew Mrs. Betts are welcome to join the family for a celebration of her life from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at 3980 Route 113, Thetford Center, VTThe Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation care of Thetford Center, VT is in charge of arrangements.To view an online guestbook go to www.halefuneralhomes.com To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Claradella Betts, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.
