Dale E. Peters

Dale was born in Hanover, NH and was raised in Vermont where he attended Bradford Elementary School and graduated from Bradford Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Johnson State College, VT and a Master of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, NH. He received a Certificate of Secondary Education Administration from Hood College, MD and pursued further graduate studies at University of Rochester Medical School, NY and at College of the Atlantic, ME. His teaching experiences began in Vermont. He later taught in Connecticut and Maryland. Over the years, he instructed courses in biological and physical sciences at all levels, and in 1993, was the recipient of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching given by the National Science Foundation. Dale had recently retired from the position of Assistant Principal at Tuscarora High School in Frederick, MD and was residing in Keene, NH. During his academic career, Dale was devoted to the education of his students, many of whom continued to stay in touch years later. He also coached numerous school sports such as cross-country, basketball and crew. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, canoeing, white-water rafting and hang-gliding. He also enjoyed photography, landscape painting, and travel. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Bednarski of Bradford, VT; his brother, Dennis Peters of Center Conway, NH; his sister, Carol Peters of Barre, VT; and his nephews, Joseph Peters of Bartlett, NH and Andrew Peters of Huntington Beach, CA.
