Gloria Rae Ashline

December 17, 1936 - January 29, 2018

Corinth, VT-Our mother Gloria Rae Hartzell Ashline, born in Youngstown, Ohio on Dec 17, 1936, has left this earth for a better place. Her parents Olmer Hartzell and Leta Owen Hartzell predecessors her.We, Bob, George (who was always her favorite), Keith and Donna will sorely miss her. Gloria had two great loves in her life. She married George Ashline in May of 1956 and were happily married until his passing in 1978. Then she met Bill Bourque and moved to the wilds of Vermont hiking their way to happiness until he passed in 1988. Mom loved visiting her best friend Carol Soulier and the rest of the Ashline clan in Malone, NY.She knitted everything, including the most comfortable slippers in the world. Mom enjoyed crafting and baking pies for the farmers markets, country stores, and college students of Vermont. She spent her extra time at the Senior Center in Bradford, Vt. Gloria attended Springfield Technical High School in Springfield, Mass, Class of 1954. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 11 years and as a waitress at the Ranch House in Springfield, Mass.She leaves her sons Robert Hartzell (Debra) of Springfield, VA; George and Keith of Corinth Corners, VT; daughter Donna Rogers (Steve) of Ware, Mass; stepson Alan; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother Glen Hartzell of Concord, NH; and a sister Linda Fitzgerald (Gerald) of Agawam, Mass. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lola Stanley and Sylvia Burgess. Memorial services to be determined at a later date.
