Harriet Hackett

Wellsriver, VT- Harriet E. (Carter) Hackett died early Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Cottage Hospital after complication s from a fall. She was born August 15, 1925 in Peacham, VT the daughter of Ernest and Harriet (Marden) Carter. Growing up she traveled around a lot as her father was a logger and in those days he took the family with them. She has lived in Wellsriver, VT since 1971 and for the past three years she had been living at the Valley View Retirement Home in Fairlee, VT. Harriet enjoyed traveling around Vermont on fishing trips with her brother Carroll. She was an avid gardener enjoying her flowers, she loved to knit and watch TV at the same time. She made beautiful crocheted baby outfits, sweaters, blankets, slipper sox or anything else she could create with yarn. She was always up to a challenge and could fix almost anything we asked her to fix. She enjoyed being outdoors and doted on her children and grandchildren. Harriet was always there when we need her. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Lurraine E. Hackett of Bradford, VT and Jeanne and her husband Carroll Ainsworth of Wellsriver, VT; one son Earl and his wife Cindy Hackett of Lake City, TN., four grandsons, David G. and his wife Kathy Safford of Enfield, NH., Greg Ainsworth of Wellsriver, VT., Michael C. Safford (Gadwah) and his wife Lisa of Woodsville, NH and Warren E. Safford of Woodsville, NH.,; four step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren, Harriet was a gram to everyone , she just loved babies. She was predeceased by one daughter, Arlene E. (Hackett) Safford, one brother, Carroll Jerome and her ex husband Warren T. Hackett. There will be a celebration on life at her daughter Jeanne's house in Wellsriver, VT on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 4-6 pm. Friends and family are welcome.
