Bradford, Vermont -Kent Keyes DeGoosh, 78, passed away on December 8, 2015 after an extended illness. He died at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, New Hampshire surrounded by his children.Kent was born in Lyme, New Hampshire on December 30, 1936 to the late Howard DeGoosh and Nettie Pushee DeGoosh. Kent was the eleventh of thirteen children. Kent Graduated from Orford Academy and worked as a superintendent for H.P. Cummings Construction before starting his own company, KJ Construction. During his career he oversaw large projects, to include a cathedral, veterans hospital, library, school, courthouse, retirement community and more, but most importantly he built cradles for his grandchildren.Kent married Beatrice Nutting in November in 1958; together they had three children, Peg, Penny and Brad. Although Kent and Beatrice divorced, they enjoyed a close friendship.Kent is survived by his three children Peg DeGoosh and her companion Greg Hodge of Bradford, VT, Penny DeGoosh of Doha Qatar and Brad DeGoosh and his wife Patricia of Bradford, VT. Kent had 5 grandchildren; Ian Hitchener and Andrea of Bradford, VT, Dr. Gavin and Katie Hitchener of Speonk, New York, Emma, Lillian and Keyes DeGoosh of Bradford, VT and great grandson Brayden Hitchener of Bradford, VT. He is also survived by five siblings Anne DeGoosh of Lyme, NH, Nancy Radtke of Wellington, Nevada, John DeGoosh of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nettie Ackerman of Piermont NH and Sue Alexander of Melbourne, Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Some of Kent's happiest times involved being with his family, especially watching his grandchildren's sports games, 4H shows, dance recitals and plays. He enjoyed estate auctions and bidding on antiques he would later restore. Kent was an avid bird watcher and most enjoyed afternoon happy hours with a cold beer, pretzels and Vermont sharp cheddar cheese.Kent admired the mission of 4H and its positive impact on children and communities.
