Marjorie M. Deming

Newbury, VT- Marjorie M. Deming, 85, of Newbury died at her home on Pine Street on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 following a period of failing health, she was surrounded by her children and their families. She was born on August 23, 1929 to Edna and Garnett Hebb of Newbury, VT. She attended Newbury Grade School and graduated from Newbury High School. On August 23, 1948 she married James L. Deming and made their home on Pine Street, Newbury, VT for sixty-seven years. Marjorie had many interests including gardening, her flowers, and spending time with family and friends. She loved ice cream sundaes and square dancing. Marjorie was responsible for organizing the Jolly Workers 4-H Club in town for over twenty years, each spring the town enjoys the 270 crab apple trees planted in 1969 by the Jolly Workers 4-H Club. She enjoyed bible studies, church activities, camping and cookouts. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Guy Hebb and one son, Bruce Deming. She is survived by three daughters, Jo-Ann Whitcher and husband Daniel of East Barre, VT., Deborah Washburn and husband Jeffery of East Barre, VT and Teresa Thompson and husband Kyle of East Corinth, VT., one brother, Garnet Hebb Jr. and his wife of Newbury, VT and daughter-in-law Jane Deming of Charlottesville, Virginia; five grandchildren, Christopher Whitcher, David Washburn, Katie Myers, Jeremy Thompson and Michael Thompson; six great0-grandchildren, Megan Whitcher, Devin Whitcher, Cage Thompson, Levi Thompson, Rylee Thompson and Owen Myers. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 1 pm in the Newbury Congregational Church in Newbury, VT with Rev. Kathlyn Maver officiating. There are no calling hours.
