Albert E. Rice

EAST CORINTH-Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our husband, father and Papa, Albert E. Rice age 87. He is with our families in heaven. Albert was born to Ernest M Rice and Laura J Hoadley on November 19th, 1936, in Woodstock Vermont joining an older brother Stanley.
He went to school in South Woodstock and Woodstock he was active in the FFA all four years graduating with the class of 1956. He spent 2 years in the US army in various bases in the US. After the service he married Sharon E. Johnson at the Joseph Smith memorial in Sharon Vermont at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They started their married life at Sindicate Farms in Reading Vermont where Albert was herdsman.
As years went on, they lived and worked at various farms including Billings Farm before it became a museum. He was also gardener for Elaine B. Pierce in Pomfret and the Joseph Smith Memorial. He farmed most of the years for Charlie Dana who was a friend as well as employer.
They had three children Marshall, Gwenyth, and Mathew. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as second counselor in the branch presidency and a two-year mission as state missionary at the Joseph Smith Memorial. He was a Sunday school teacher. He was a high priest at the time of his death. He enjoyed and loved the Lord, his family and friends. He liked to go camping and driving back roads hunting and fishing. He loved these things until lewy body disease set him back from everything, forgetting it all. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, daughter Gwenyth LaCount and her children Justin Colby, Patrick Colby his wife Kimberly and children Lily Lee Kaylee and Devin. James Edward laCount and daughter Michaela LaCount along with nieces and nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, one son Marshall, his brother Stanley and sister-in-law Harriet.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain in Bradford. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 and Service at 2:00.
