Bruce John Omeara

Bruce John O’Meara passed away on Sunday, April 2nd at the age of 71 in his East Orange home. The youngest son of Lawrence O’Meara and Joyce Milne Butler, Bruce developed an early love of the outdoors.

He spent his younger years chasing adventures, racing cars and dirt bikes. He grew up with a love and respect for animals, including hunting rabbits with his loyal dogs and riding around with his sister on their horses. Later, he studied at Paul Smith College and founded the O & B Lumber company, which he owned and operated throughout his life. Bruce was a dedicated logger who cherished the tranquility of Vermont forests. He particularly loved the family land handed down from his father and spent the final years of his life cultivating and preserving it for future generations.

Throughout his life, Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many of his most treasured moments among friends and family tracking a deer or recounting a fishing expedition. In the spring, he enjoyed making maple syrup from his sugar house. He was well-known for long stories of these adventures, particularly those shared with his father and his son. Bruce also held a deep passion for skiing, which he passed along to his children.

Bruce is survived by his three children Heather Griffin, Keith O’Meara, and Shea O’Meara; his grandchildren Amber Strock and Liam Breslaw; his sister Marie O’Meara; and many beloved cousins and others with whom he shared cherished memories. Bruce’s sister, Bonnie O’Meara, passed away late last year.
His family will hold a service to honor his life at the East Orange Church at 2pm on Saturday April 29, 2023. We invite all Who knew him to attend his services and a gathering immediately Following.
