Fairlee, VT- Calista "Ada" Ross (Titus) died at her son's home on November 26, 2015, she was 98.Ada was born at home on September 1, 1917 in Vershire, Vermont, daughter of Anna Spear Titus and Berne Titus.Ada attended Fairlee schools and graduated from Orford High School in 1935. She attended Concord Business School in New Hampshire. After business school Ada worked at an insurance office in Bradford, Vermont, where she met her future husband, William Ross. With World War II looming Bill enlisted in the army and Ada went to work for the War Office in Washington, D.C. Prior to his departure, Ada and Bill were married in the Chapel at Arlington Cemetery.After the war Bill and Ada settled in Fairlee. Ada had a long secretarial career including Samuel Morey Elementary School, Lake Morey Resort and the Town of Fairlee. Ada was one of the founding members of the Fairlee Recreation Committee. She was the oldest member of the Fairlee Community Church. She was also very active in the VFW.Ada was an avid sports fan; never missing any of her children's sporting events. She was a member of Lake Morey Country Club, where she played golf well into her 90's. She was well known in the community for her precisely stacked six cords of wood each fall. She had a great love of animals and always had a wide variety of them.Ada was predeceased by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and a son-in-law. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Pollender of Ludlow, VT and Patricia Bouthillette of Fairfax, VT; two sons, Bill Ross Jr. of Orford NH, and David Ross of Myrtle Beach SC; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at the Fairlee Village Cemetery July 24th, 2016 at 12PM.
