Orford, NH- Carolyn "Carol" May Tyler, 92, of Orford died at 5:30 pm Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.She was born December 29, 1922 in Trenton, NJ to Frederick and Lovica (Lee) Gierman. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 69 years, Leroy "Roy" Tyler.Carol attended Trenton Central High School and Rider College. During World War II she worked as a secretary at Fort Dix, where she met Roy. They were married in 1942 at the Browns Mills United Methodist Church, lived in Trenton after he returned from overseas, and later moved to Pennington. She volunteered with the American Red Cross as a swimming instructor and worked as a lifeguard at the Quarry Swimming Club in Hopewell, New Jersey. She worked until retirement at the Gallup Organization in Princeton and was proud of becoming a senior vice president.She was an avid Skier and snowmobiler and belonged to the Upper Valley Snow Packers in West Fairlee, VT. She like bowling with the Sunshine League at Victory Lanes in Woodsville, NH. In later years she enjoyed reading, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots on Television and viewing the birds and other wildlife out her windows. She was a generous supporter of wildlife, conservation and local causes.She leaves behind her daughter, Sharon Tyler and companion Norman Fletcher, her grandsons, Dana, Matthew and Nathan Nagy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Harold Gierman.She would wish to thank the Upper Valley Ambulance for their compassionate service. Memorial donations in her memory may be sent to them at PO Box 37, Fairlee, VT 05045. Or to the Friends of the Orford Libraries, PO Box 113, Orford, NH 03777.There will be no calling hours.
