Catherine Marie Smith

Catherine was born on February 11, 1982 in Hanover, N.H., to Sidney Pixley, Jr. and Darlene M. Savery Pixley. She attended grade school in Strafford, VT and graduated from Thetford Academy. On July 24, 2010, Catherine and Jedediah E. Smith were married at the Lyme Center Academy building, and the couple made their home in Lyme, N.H. Catherine is survived by her dear husband, Jedediah Smith, and her beloved children, her daughter, Cheyenne Marie Smith, who was born on September 19, 2003, and her son, Caleb Eugene Smith, who was born on January 7, 2006. She also leaves her father, Sidney Pixley, Jr. and her stepmother, Cheryl Jenks, of Strafford, VT, her brother Shawn Pixley of Lebanon, N.H. and her nephews Dwyatt, Darren, Shane, Cameron and Brooks, her stepbrother Joshua Jenks of Bradford, VT, her half-brother James Moses of Strafford, VT, her paternal grandparents Sidney Pixley, Sr. and Gloria Pixley of Brownington, VT, her maternal grandmother, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will also be sadly missed by her mother-in-law Martha Smith of Lyme, N.H., her father-in-law David Smith of Orford, N.H., and her sister-in-law Abigail Smith of Orford, N.H. Catherine worked as a cashier at the Co-Op Food Store and B & B Store, and in Food Service at Hanover Terrace Health Care. She also worked at Something Sweet Candy Shop in the Powerhouse Mall, and was most recently employed in Dining Services at Dartmouth College. She also sold Avon for a number of years, and provided child care and babysitting for friends and family. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, flowers and gardening, doing puzzles and computer games, making jewelry, candles, Christmas wreaths, and other crafts, and taking photographs of her family and friends. Catherine was devoted to her children and her husband, and the rest of her family. She especially loved shopping for special gifts and outfits for her children, and planning wonderful themed birthday parties for them every year, with lots of balloons! She also loved swimming and camping with her husband and children, and sitting around the campfire and visiting with friends and family. Other favorite experiences were family outings to Clark's Trading Post, Story Land, Crystal Lake, local fairs, the Orford Flea Market, going to the races, attending plays with her family at Northern Stage, seeing "The Logger", going four-wheeling and having picnics, going out to eat, and road trips with her family. Catherine also loved her many pets, including her dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, and fish. Catherine was loyal, kind and caring to her family and friends, with a generous heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her passing leaves a great emptiness in the hearts and lives of everyone who knew and loved her. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held on Friday, February 7th at 2 pm in the First Baptist Church in Lyme Center, N.H. There are no calling hours. The Reverend Stephen Gehlert will officiate. Following the service, relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lyme Center Academy building to share remembrances of Catherine. Memorial donations may be sent to the Catherine Smith Memorial Fund, in care of the Ledyard Bank in Lyme, N.H., or given at the Lyme Country Store.
