FAIRLEE-Corinne (Godfrey) Moore, long time resident of Fairlee, VT, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2024, after a short stay at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.
Born in Post Mills, VT to Mary and Winston Godfrey, Corinne graduated from Thetford Academy in 1973. She immediately went to work as an operator at the White River office of AT&T, working there until the office closed in 1990. Corinne went on to work as the overnight switchboard operator at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. She was at the hospital through its transition to Dartmouth Hitchcock and retired from DHMC in 2011 after 20 years of service. After leaving DHMC, she worked part time at the Clara Martin Center in Bradford, VT before fully retiring due to health issues in 2017.
Corinne loved the outdoors. She had a green thumb and in her younger days enjoyed maintaining beautiful flower beds and window boxes in her yard. Her favorite place was beside the ocean, preferably on the beach in Maine, in the sunshine with a book. She also enjoyed spending time boating with friends and family and relaxing on her front porch.
There wasn’t a little dog Corinne didn’t love or a stray cat she didn’t want to try to tame. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and other critters that visited her yard and doting on her beloved chihuahua Benny. She also took great joy in hearing about and visiting with the children of her nieces and nephews, attending their sporting events whenever she could.
Corinne is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael, her daughter Shelby, two sisters, three brothers, and many other beloved extended family members near and far.
The family will hold a private celebration of Corinne’s life this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society in Corinne’s memory.
Arrangements are in the care of Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain in Bradford.
