BRADFORD - Craige Chaffee, 66, died November 7, 2015 in a UTV accident in Washington, Vermont. Craige was born December 23, 1948 in Barre, Vermont to Wayne H. Chaffee and Jean B. Chaffee. Craige grew up in East Orange and resided in Bradford, Vermont. He had many friends and family in the community. He enjoyed spending time at Bear Ridge Speedway watching his nephew's race as he did when he was younger. You could often find his Jeep parked at the auction, with him close by rummaging through boxes of old coins and trading guns. He was an avid outdoorsman and even as his health declined he could still be seen cruising the back roads looking for deer and partridges. His quick-witted nature and clever jokes kept many of us smiling. He was a Vietnam Veteran and worked for the US Postal Service until his health declined. He struggled for many years with medical complications that wouldn't allow him to do many of the things he loved. Our gratitude goes out to the many who have helped him through his struggles. In the last year of his life his health greatly improved and his outlook on life was better than ever. Craige was predeceased by his father, Wayne H. Chaffee, his mother Jean B. Chaffee, his brothers Robert Rabbit' Chaffee and Eddie Porter. He leaves behind his brother Wayne, sisters Barbara and Linda, his two sons, Shaine and Cheyenne, his daughter Sheena, and his grandson Shaine Shainey' Jr. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Sandy. Visiting hours will be held Monday, November 16th, 6-8 pm at Hales Funeral Home in Bradford and graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 17th, at 11am at the East Orange cemetery. The Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation Care of Bradford, VT are in charge of arrangements. To view an online guestbook go to
