Dorothy Helen Dodge

Dorothy H. Dodge, 91, a resident of the Grafton County Nursing Home, died February 27, 2019 at the home.Born on June 7, 1927 in South Peacham, VT, she was the daughter of Charles and Cecil (Livingston) Kimball.Dorothy attended Corinth Grade School, was a 1945 graduate of Thetford Academy, and a 1946 graduate of Bennington State Beauty Culture School.She worked in Barre, VT for four years at Rina Aylward's Beauty Shop. She then started her own beauty shop in Goose Green, Corinth, VT until a heart attack in 1989 caused her to close her shop.In 1949, she married Wilbur D. Young; they had four children: Constance Thurston and husband Greg of Corinth, VT, Dwight Young and wife Jean of Bradford, VT, Susan Hood and husband Donald of Bradford, VT, and Diane Slack and husband Jon of Fairlee, VT. She is also survived by grandchildren: Shane (Denise) Thurston, Martin (Michele) Thurston, Chad (Rachael) Thurston, Shannon (Brandi) Young, Sonya (Jeremy) Grant, Jamie (Cody) Sherman, Jessica (Nathan) Locke, Tanya (Matthew) Sharf, Isaac (Tracey) Clogston, Richard Olmstead, Jr., Sheri (Jr) Thurston, and Peter Slack; great-grandchildren: Shania, Ethan, Owen, Bradley, Aidan, Merrett, Meredith, Mallari, Maleah, Cody, Kimberly, Wayne, Walker, Winnejean, Wyatt, Samantha, Britney, Bentleigh, Jack, Amber, Autumn, Felisha, and Orin; great-great Grandchildren: Abigail, Jacob, and Lane;As well as two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was pre-deceased by two infant brothers, her first husband Wilbur Young (1960) and a brother Edward (2011).In 1970, she married Edwin Dodge who pre-deceased her in 2011.Dorothy was a member of the Corinth Bible Church and the Bradford Evangelical Free Church over the years where she taught Sunday School classes and hosted many church functions in her home. She loved working in her garden, doing puzzles, playing flinch as well as taking care of her children and grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held at the Corinth Bible Church at a future date in March.Arrangements are by Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT.Online guestbook at www.halefuneralhomes.com .
