EAST CORINTH-Ernst Aebi passed away in the early morning hours of April 16, 2023 at his home in East Corinth, VT. Born in Switzerland on March 25, 1938, he immigrated to the US in 1966 and settled first in New Jersey, then New York City, spending his final years in Vermont. As the eldest, Ernst was the last of the three Aebi brothers as well as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his four children, Tania Aebi of Corinth, Vermont; Nina Aebi of Geneva, Switzerland, Anthony Aebi of Esopus, NY, and Jade Aebi of London, England; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Sam, Freya, William, Gregory, Emilie, Alexander, Sabina, and Athena, and two great grandchildren, Eloise and Ewan. He also leaves behind two fast and lifelong friends, Fritz Gross and Christian Puffler.
An exceptional individual and a huge presence in the lives of his children and friends, his absence will be keenly felt. A talented visual artist, a successful NYC real estate developer, and an avid adventurer and traveler to the most remote corners of Earth, he liked to call himself a citizen of the world conducting a lifelong love affair with our wonderful planet. A sign on the door to his NY home read: dream to reality conversion specialist. He spent his last morning sitting outside in the sun overlooking the beautiful VT property and ponds shaped by his vision, one of his favorite places of all.
We will miss you very much, Daddy, Grandpa, Ernst.
A celebration of his life will be held this summer at his home. Please email:
