Evalona Felicitas Whitcomb

Faye Whitcomb died April 10, 2022 in North Haverhill, New Hampshire. Faye was born Evalona Felicitas Hahn, but those who knew and loved her called her, “Faye”. She was born February 18, 1934 in Bradford, Vermont to Louis and Jeanne (Darling) Hahn. She is predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and William Hahn. Faye attended Bradford Schools until 6th grade and then attended Millbury High School in Massachusetts until she graduated in 1952. She played high school basketball and played the fife and bass drum in the Millbury Fife and Drum Corps. She married Charles David Whitcomb from Bradford, Vermont in January, 1954. They had six children. After her first marriage, she married Michael Smith in April, 1984. Faye is survived by her children: Andrea Whitcomb, Paul Whitcomb, Dan Whitcomb, Joan Pledger, and Felicia Darling. She is predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Whitcomb. She is survived by six grandchildren.

Faye was a bookkeeper for 50 years. She loved to cook and could make a mean beef stew, apple crisp, pies, and black raspberry jam. Also, she was an avid fan of Howard Mosher who wrote novels about the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Howard told her that she knew some of the real people on whom his characters were based. Her favorite musicians were Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. Faye loved the ocean and traveling. She dipped her toes, swam, or snorkeled in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Caribbean Oceans. In the US, she travelled to California, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and the Virgin Islands. She traveled abroad to Aruba, Canada, Cozumel, England, Germany, and Ireland. She even attended mass at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Her funeral will be held at St Joseph’s Romana Catholic Church , Pine Street, Woodsville NH at 10 AM on April 21 immediately after the service there will be a burial at Bradford VT Upper Plains cemetery.

Before she passed, Faye said, “It has been a good ride.”
