Lyme, NH- Evelyn P. Currier, 90, of Lyme, NH died Sunday evening December 20, 2015 at Blue Spruce Resident Home in Bradford, VT where she had been a resident since February of 2009.She was born in Norwich, VT on June 28, 1925. Mrs. Currier was raised in Norwich, VT until she married Leonard Estes and moved to Lyme, NH in 1940. She worked for fifteen years as a housekeeper for several homes in Hanover, NH and then worked at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital for the next twenty-three years in the cafeteria, working initially behind the counter and then as a cashier. She formed many lasting friendships with the other personnel of the hospital and was especially liked by many of the Doctors, Nurses, etc. that she waited on. Always friendly and positive while waiting on people and every ready with her infectious smile.Evelyn spent the next fifteen years as a nanny for Paul Argenti and Mary Munter's two daughters, Julia and Lauren Argenti, There lived in Hanover, NH. The two youngsters became an extension of her own grandchildren.Leonard Estes, Evelyn's husband and father of their six children passed away in 1966, In 1967 Evelyn met Cecil Currier and they married in 1968. Evelyn is survived by Cecil Currier who lives in Lyme.Evelyn enjoyed her family, both her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as her brothers and sisters children and their children. She was always trying to keep in contact with as many as she could. Evelyn was the last of five siblings, three brothers Dorance, Russell, Donald and one sister Elma Powers Teeters predeceased her.Evelyn enjoyed her garden, both flower and vegetable, she enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, camping, snowmobile riding, motorcycle riding, playing cards and knitting. She loved reading the local paper each morning and would not put it down until she had read it from front to back. Evelyn loved the simple things of life and tried to past that simple wisdom on to all the people she loved and cared for.Evelyn is survived by her six children, Madelene Trussell, Thomas Estes, Russell Estes, Roberta Pike, Pauline Gray and Linda Woodward, thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2 pm in the Lyme Congregational Church in Lyme, NH with Rev. Amy Hayden officiating. There are no calling hours. Private family burial will follow the service in the family lot in the Highland Cemetery in Lyme, NH.The Hale Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Bradford and Thetford Center, VT are in charge of arrangements.To view an online guestbook go to www.halefuneralhomes.com
