Faith Gaffield Grady of Lower Plain Bradford, VT passed away peacefully Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home in the care of her family following a period of declining health. She was 77. Born on August 15, 1935 in St. Johnsbury, VT, she was the daughter of George D. and Ruth J. (Lyon) Gaffield. Faith grew up in Derby Line, Vermont and attended Derby Line schools, Stanstead College in Stanstead, Quebec with a major in music, McGill University Conservatorium of Music and Framingham University Nursing School in Framingham, MA. On November 30, 1958, she married John L. Grady Jr. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing on Aug 29, 2008. Together, during his 23 years of service in the US Air Force, they lived in many places around the world including England, the Philippines, and the Azores fostering a lifelong love for travel. An accomplished musician, she played the piano and organ, and had the voice of an angel. Music was a part of her life starting at the young age of six and she continued to serve where ever music was needed. She was the recipient of First Place Female Solo at the 1953 Vermont All State Musical Festival. Her gift of music brought joy to many. Faith was a member of the Orford Congregational Church having served as the organist and choir director for over 20 years. She also belonged to The Rondo for more than 35 years serving as president from 1996-1997 and 1999-2001 and to the North Country Chorus for the past 35 years taking advantage of traveling abroad to such places as Italy, Poland, Scotland and Ireland sharing the beautiful sounds of the chorus. Besides her husband, she is pre-deceased by her son Bruce J. Grady and son-in-law Douglas H Paul. Faith will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, but most of all she will be remembered for her sweet disposition and beautiful smile. She leaves her loving daughter Heather Grady Paul of Bradford, VT , granddaughters' Kendall(Alan) Wolff of Frisco, TX and Nichole(Ted) Hunt of Owosso, MI , great-grandchildren Tim Evans, Katelynn and Teddy Hunt of Owosso, MI and Bella Wolff of Frisco, TX. brother John (Bunny) Gaffield of Monroe, CT , brother-in-laws William(Miki) Grady of Scottsdale, Az., David Grady of Vernon, VT, sister-in-laws Catherine Sicard of Burlington, VT and Jane Grady of Barre, VT., and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, August 1, at Hale Funeral Home, Upper Plain, Bradford, VT. Rev Robert Noble will officiate. A reception will follow in the vestry of Orford Congregational Church after the service. A graveside service will be held at 5pm Thursday, August 1 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, VT. Calling hours will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, July 31 at the funeral home.
