East Topsham, VT- Freda Dexter McLam, 90, passed away October 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.She was born August 16, 1925 the daughter of Leander Dexter and Anna Smith Dexter. Freda married Chester McLam on July 20, 1945. She loved quilting, snowmobiling, spending time with her family. Freda was an excellent seamstress.Freda worked one summer in Conn. She and Chet had a poultry farm for many years. She also worked at Harry's Department in Barre, VT. Freda then worked at National Life before retiring.She was an active member of the Topsham United Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder of the Church from 1999-2005. Freda volunteered her time helping with Church suppers and rummage sales. She and Chet enjoyed weekly coffee hour at the Church.Freda was predeceased by her son, Terry McLam, son-in Law Jim Appleton and grandson, Lenny McLam.She is survived by her husband Chet of Seventy years, one son, Glen McLam and wife Sherry of Topsham, VT.; two daughters, Lois Kelty and husband Russ of East Barre, VT and Joy Appleton of Corinth, VT.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Leo Dexter of East Barre, VT and two sisters, Eunice Mclam of East Corinth, VT and Evelyn Moulton of Westfield, MA. She will forever be in our Hearts and Memories.A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11 am in the Topsham United Presbyterian Church. There are no calling hours.
