Glen Ira Ordway Sr

September 22, 1929 — January 10, 2015

His work career consisted of various types of farming and construction work including 12 years at the Mallary Farm in Bradford; and 28 years at Ide's Feed Store in Fairlee delivering grain and animal feed until he retired at the age of 83 in 2012. His love of animals was well known. People often thought of him as the animal whisperer talking to his horses, cows, dogs, and stray wild cats. His ability to calm and love the animals was an amazing sight to see. He enjoyed maple sugaring of all hours. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Willard and Burton, son Glen Jr., and son-in-law Darrell Harrington. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Virginia; Priscilla Jorgensen and husband Charlie and their children Jessica Hebb and Jeremy Jorgensen; Eugene and wife Sandra and their children Nicole and Daniel; daughter Maryann Parker and husband Malcolm and their children Merridth Bartoletta, Mathew, Malinda Brown and Mark; Diane Harrington and her children Richard Bean, Chris Bean and Samantha Moore; Dale and his son Jamie; Paul and wife Kim and their children Jen Waters and Baylie Ordway; Amy Lockwood and husband Bob and their children Ryan and Charlie; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Hale's Funeral Home in Bradford, Vermont. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal organization of your choice. The Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation Care of Bradford, VT is in charge of arrangements.
