Gregory Paul Torrey

Newbury, VT- Gregory Paul Torrey, 74, of Newbury died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH after a long battle with Cancer with his family by his side. He was born on October 2, 1940 the son of Carlton and Alice (McNeil) Torrey. He attended schools in Haverhill, MA. On July 22, 1961 he was married to Charlene Childs who survives. Mr. Torrey had been employed for Letoile Roofing and Forsythe Roofing in Massachusetts and in 1978 they moved to Newbury, VT where he was employed for The Ray School in Hanover, NH as a custodian for twenty-two years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grandchildren and just puttering around his home with his tractor. He is survived by his wife Charlene Torrey of Newbury, VT., one son Donald Torrey of White River Jct., VT.; two grandchildren, Gregory and Kaylynn and three great-grandchildren, Weston, Landon and Robert and one special niece, Bonnie Torrey Brill; five sisters, Alice Wilkinson of Ware, MA., Evelyn Allen of Haverhill, MA., Carlene Paquette of Hampstead, NH., Ruth Sparks of Bradford, MA and Marion Sargent of Somersworth, NH. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1 pm at Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at Hale Funeral Home in Bradford, VT. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
