Bradford, VT- HAROLD EDWARD GRAVLIN, III (PEANUT) passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at his home in Bradford, VT, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his two daughters, Bailea and Taylor Gravlin of E. Thetford, VT; his ex-wife and friend, Sheri Shumway of E. Thetford, VT; his mother, Charlotte (Martin) Thurston of Bradford, VT; his brother, Forrest (Jr.) Thurston and wife Sheri of West Topsham, VT; several sisters - Theresa Covey of Corinth, VT, Deanna Rogers and husband John of Bradford, VT, Melanie Thurston and friend Quincy Batchelder of Groton, VT, Laurie Rock and husband David, of Newbury, VT, Cathy Welch and husband Gene of E. Corinth, VT, and Andrea Milne and Husband Richard of Bethesda, MD; brother-in-law Ted Shumway and wife Jamie of Bradford, VT; many nieces and nephews; and Mickey Appleton who was a surrogate Dad and best friend to Peanut. He was predeceased by his Dad, Harold (Peanut) Gravlin, Jr, maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Covey. Peanut worked most of his life logging, but was a jack of all trades. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his daughters who were the shining stars in his life. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, hanging out with his brother, and helping his brother-in-law, John, with pig roasts, and his many cookouts with his friends. Peanut enjoyed the freedom of the outdoors. When not working, he spent his time helping whoever needed him, whether fixing farming equipment, working on vehicles, and too much to name. He will always be remembered for his independence, strength, and strong free-will. As hard as it was to accept, Peanut was appreciative of the love and comfort extended to him by his friends and family, he always let us know. He was a wonderful Dad, son, brother, and friend, and he will be truly missed. There will be a celebration of his life later this summer. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Hale's Funeral Home to help put him to rest. The Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation Care of Bradford, VT are in charge of arrangements.
