Helen Elizabeth Eastman

Ryegate-Helen Elizabeth Eastman, 94, of Ryegate, passed away peacefully on February 16th, at DHMC. Helen was born in West Corinth on February 27th, 1919, to Bertha (Hartley) and David F. Eastman. For many years, Helen lived in Bradford. Later in life, she made her home in McIndoe Falls with Damian and Mark Ruel for ten years and in August, moved into a home in Ryegate, with Tina and Mike Greene. Helen enjoyed attending the Oxbow Senior Independence Program in Newbury for many years. She loved music, arts and crafts, and enjoyed playing Bingo. Helen also loved flowers, animals, bird watching, and babies. She loved having company over and seeing family and friends. Helen was a kind and gentle person and made others feel special with her welcoming smile and open arms. Helen leaves behind a brother, Lyle Eastman, and wife Shirley, a sister, Gwendolyn Claflin, and husband Edward, a sister-in-law, Gail Eastman, a neice, Sylvia Rathburn, and great niece, Debbie Reeves, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Lillian Martin, brothers, Earl Eastman and Reginald "Dean" Eastman. A memorial service will be held at Hale Funeral home in Bradford on 2/21/14 at 4pm. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot in the Upper Plain Cemetery in Bradford, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oxbow Senior Independence Program in Helen's memory. The hale Funeral Home of Bradford, VT is in charge of arrangements.
