Bradford, VT Helena M. Kinney, 89, of Bradford Died January 15, 2015 at Brookside Nursing Home in Hartford, VT Helena was born on March 27, 1925 in Bradford, VT to Frank and Mabel (Davidson) Morrill. She was a graduate of Bradford Academy, Class of 1943 and graduated from Castleton State College in 1945. She was married to Hugh "Ross" Kinney on August 26, 1951. Upon graduation from college she taught 8 grades in a one room school house on Goshen Rd. in Bradford, VT. After teaching, she worked for many years at the Taylor- Palmer Agency in Bradford, VT and Richardson Agency for several years. She was an organist for 60 plus years playing at multiple churches, funerals and weddings. She was very active in the Eastern Star, and even held the Grand Organist appt for a year. After retirement she and her husband, Ross, traveled extensible attending numerous Eastern Star functions. She volunteered for many years at the free community Christmas Dinner at the Congregational Church in Bradford. She was a member of the Bradford Fire Department Auxiliary. She helped with the annual Strawberry Festival making shortcakes and picking the strawberries. She was well known for her baked beans and custard pies. She enjoyed snowmobiling and get togethers with friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ross, a son, Hugh Ross Kinney, Jr., her parents, two brothers, Harold (at infancy) and Bartlett Morrill. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Wight and husband John, Kathleen Mallett, one granddaughter, Heather Nelson and husband Grant, four great grandchildren, Devyn, Caleb, Kacie and Grady, a nephew Lee Morrill and a cousin , Cynthia Bowles of Durham, NH. Graveside funeral services for Helena and her husband Hugh will be held in the spring in the family lot in the Upper Plain Cemetery in Bradford, VT. There are no calling hours. Donations can be made to the Eastern Star Iona Chapter 31, Bradford, VT or to the Lyme Center Baptist Church, Lyme Center, NH.or to the CAMP Caleb Nelson, Ann & Robiert Lurie Children's Hospital, 225 E Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60611 The Hale Funeral Home and Cremation care of Bradford, VT is in charge of arrangements.
