Bradford, VT-Helmut Krepper, born July 9, 1935, passed away on January 17, 2015, with his wife Maryjane at his side. Helmut was born in Kitzbuhel, Austria, and immigrated to the United States in 1962. He met Maryjane, and they married a year later in 1963 in Ithaca, NY. The son of a tailor, Helmut worked in the textile industry in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, before the pair settled in Bradford, VT in 1983. Helmut retired in 2000 from Malden Mills to enjoy his great love of the outdoors: hiking, skiing and tending to his garden and yard. He had an insatiable passion for reading, history and current events, and was an active member of the Bradford history club. He also enjoyed community service, supporting the Bradford Congregational Church, UCC and the Prouty. The couple enjoyed their travels across the US and Austria, but once home, welcomed family and friends to their Bradford home for fun, entertainment and Helmut's delicious cooking. He'd serve everything from tasty grilled fare, to Austrian delights. Helmut is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maryjane; his brother Lutz Krepper and his wife Theda; nephew and family, Markus, Paulette, Max and Veronika Stout; niece Annemarie Stout; nephew Toni Krepper; nieces Judy Linsz-Ross, Jill Linsz and Joy Linsz; nephew Carl Linsz and nieces Cathalyn Hudson and Nancy DiBiase. After many wonderful years, we say Goodbye and Auf Wiedersehen. We will fondly remember you in our hearts, cherishing every moment. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2pm, at the Bradford Congregational Church, UCC, Main Street in Bradford, Vermont. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory are invited to donate to the Bradford Public Library. The Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation Care of Bradford, VT is in charge of arrangements.
