He was born in Richford, VT on September 27, 1940 and grew up in Enosburg, VT with his brother Roger Stimpson. Rocky then became a Corpsman in the US Navy and later went on to work as a lineman for Central Vermont Public Service until his retirement. Rocky was a lifelong outdoors-man who was a well known hunter and fisherman, known for his ability to "talk" a fish into his frying pan. He was widely recognized for his love of nature, animals, and his generosity towards friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Stimpson and son Shawn Bixby as well as multiple siblings and his parents. Survivors include his best friend and companion, Dusty Brown; his brother Roger Stimpson of Enosburg Falls, VT; his children Brian (and Angela) Stimpson of Concord, NH and their children Brian Jr. and Candice; Rachel (and Eric) Vaughan of Penacook, NH and their children Gabriel and Julia; Paula Stimpson of Salisbury, NH and her children Stephen, Jacob and Dylan; David Bixby of Warner, NH and his children Jason, Shilah and Jordan; and Gene Bixby (and Lani) of West Swanzey, NH and their children Andrea, Kaitlyn and Shawn; and numerous great grand-children. A public graveside service will be held at Sawyer Cemetery in Bradford, VT on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 1PM with a potluck reception to follow at his home.
