Bradford, VT- Hugh Ross Kinney, 91, of Bradford, VT died January 1, 2015 at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder, VT. He was born in St. Berkshire, VT on December 2, 1923 the son of Hugh S. and Margaret Lucilla Duell Kinney. He grew up on a farm with his family. He attended schools in the St. Alban's area. He was married to the former Helena Morrill in August of 1951. He worked for many years at Blake Chevrolet in Bradford, VT until he was pinned by a mustang against an air compressor in 1969. After that he worked at the Bradford Post Office until he retired. He was a volunteer Fireman for Bradford Fire Department, was a member of the Masonic Charity Lodge F&AM # 43 of Bradford, VT., was a Shriner, Member of the Eastern Star, very involved in his community, he also painted the fire hydrants to look like people for the bicentennial in Bradford, VT. He helped George Barber while he was creating Bear Ridge Speedway and went to the races for many years. He enjoyed, making people laugh, being in community plays, singing Barbershop Quartet, singing in the choir at the Methodist church, deer hunting, snowmobiling and was one of the original members of the Bradford Sno-Snakes Snowmobile Club, antique cars and gardening. He is survived by his wife Helena Kinney, two daughters, Vickie Wright and Kathleen Mallett , one granddaughter, Heather Nelson and four great-grandchildren, Devyn, Caleb, Kacie and Grady Nelson.; one sister, Wilma Fosgate of Seal Beach, CA. He was predeceased by one son, Hugh Ross Kinney Jr., three brothers, Sterling, Paul and Karl, and one sister Esther. Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in the family lot in the Upper Plain Cemetery in Bradford, VT. There are no callinh hours. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Masonic Charty Lodge F7AM # 43, Route 25, Bradford, VT 05033, or to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, 77 Sunset View Road, South Hero, VT 05486.
