Jennie E. Corliss

Newbury, VT- Jennie Ethel (Thurston) Corliss, 98, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction, VT. Jennie was born on February 23, 1914 in Bradford, VT. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Ethel (Eaton) Thurston. She attended schools in West Bradford and graduated from Bradford Academy in 1932. On June 25, 1932 in Bradford, VT she married William Adair Corliss. He predeceased her in June 1996. Jennie was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Newbury, VT. She was employed by Camp Farwell in West Newbury, VT and held other part-time positions. She was an avid gardener and reader. She enjoyed the outdoors, watching the birds at her feeder and planting flower boxes for her front porch. She loved music and people. She also had many wonderful neighbors and friends. She is survived by two sons, Earl (& Donna) Corliss of Hatfield, MA and Everett (& Theta) Corliss of Dexter, NY.; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was much beloved by her entire family. She is also survived by her siblings Kenneth and Forrest Thurston, of Bradford, VT and Norman (Peter) Thurston of Newport, VT, and Maxine (Thurston) Burgess, also of Bradford. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Elwood Thurston, Mary (Thurston) Evans, Lilla (Thurston) Bradley, Charles Thurston, Howard Thurston, George Thurston, Mildred (Thurston) Whitcomb, Nora (Thurston) Kidder, Stanley (Bennie) Thurston, Martin Thurston, Harry Thurston, Clifton (Clip) Thurston, Pauline (Thurston) Mann, Gordon Thurston, and Richard Thurston and Ernest Thurston. Graveside Services will be held in the spring in the family lot at Sawyer Cemetery, Bradford, VT. There are no calling hours.
