Joyce Arlene Barber

BRADFORD, VT -Joyce Arlene Barber, 62, of Bradford, Vermont passed away unexpectedly at her home Friday, March 21, 2014.Born December 6, 1951 in Barre, Vermont she was the daughter of the late Edgar Richard Downing and late Lillian Bell (Aiken) Downing. She attended schools in Corinth and Northfield VT.In May of 1983 she married Maurice Ball of Charlotte Vermont and in October of 1984 gave birth to her beloved son Patrick Ball. She and Maurice later divorced. In August of 1997 she married her current husband Stuart (Butch) Barber and they made their home in Newbury Vermont and then North Haverhill, New Hampshire and then for the last year in Bradford, Vermont. She enjoyed spending weekends with her son Patrick, and reading and talking with her sisters on the phone. Her little dog AJ also brought much joy to her life.She leaves behind her husband Stuart (Butch) Barber of Bradford, her son Patrick Ball of Corinth and two sisters, Arloa Whitcher of Williamstown and Elaine Smith of Newbury. She is also survived by two step daughters Michelle Barber Storms and Tina Barber of New York, as well as nephews Perley Whitcher III, James Covey, John Downing, and Edgar Downing and nieces Peggy Bowen, Tina Mcclellan, Jane Paronto, and Joan Downing as well as their families. She is predeceased by her parents Edgar Richard Downing and Lillian Bell Downing as well as a brother Richard Edgar Downing, Mary June Downing and a nephew Scott Ryan Whitcher and nieces Lisa Marie Downing and Lisa Joy Downing.There will be no calling hours or funeral but there will be a memorial service on Saturday March 29, 2014 at 11 AM at Upper Valley Services in Bradford Vermont across from Farmway.
