Corinth, VT- Judith Barbara (Hale) Drury passed away peacefully in the wonderful hospice care of the Gifford Medical Center on Saturday, November 24, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in Boston, Mass on October 19, 1946 the daughter of Lewey Elizabeth and Richard Hale. She attended Endicott College and graduated with a degree in radio/television production. On September 6, 1969 Judy married Hal Drury. They lived in Boston, Clifton Park, NY and Manchester, CT before they moved to their beautiful hill in Corinth, VT. Judy worked for advertising agencies in Boston and Schenectady, NY. When she and Hal moved to Connecticut she went to work for Travelers Insurance Company in their public relations department. On arrival in Vermont she became immersed in volunteerism, serving the East Corinth Congregational Church as Treasurer, Historian, and choir member. She served on the Department of Mission for the Vermont Conference of the United Church of Christ. In Corinth Judy worked on the town planning committee and most recently the Corinth 250 committee. Judy is survived by her husband Hal, sister in law Eulalie Drury of Atlanta, nieces Kim and Debbie Mellen, Kim's partner, Rebekah McCorvey, and her beloved cat "Tuttle". Judy also leaves a legion of wonderful friends as her extended family. Judy was a terrific artist, creating beautiful baskets, knitting wonderful scarves and sweaters, and making unique beaded earrings, and necklaces. She loved her husband, her church, her town, her adopted state, and all her feline companions over the years. Everywhere she lived, Judy sang with the local choral groups, most recently with the North Country Chorus. On the last Sunday before her hospitalization she was in the front row of the choir in East Corinth. A service celebrating her life will be held on December 14, at 1 pm at the East Corinth Congregational Church in East Corinth, VT. Rev. Michael Caldwell will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in Rindge, NH in the spring.
