ORFORD, NH - Keith Wertman, 65, of Orford, NH passed away in his home quietly with his beloved wife, Karen, by his side on July 7, 2024, after a long illness. As was his wish, he spent his final years living his life to the fullest, never publicly sharing his condition. With a love of his Country and the water since his service in the Navy, he spent the 4th of July celebrating watching fireworks over the lake on a brief trip to his home state of New York. He took great pride in his skills as an optician once saying that “Being able to see the world around you is a gift everyone should have.”
As an avid history buff, he enjoyed spending time visiting Boston and Washington D.C. and not just for the clam chowder and Italian food festival. He would recommend eating sausage and peppers on a sub roll for lunch if you visit. He decorated his home with nature and monument photos he had taken. He shared his love of Space with his children through his subscription to the Astrology Photo of the Day and taught his eldest granddaughter her love of the Beatles. He would pretend he didn’t know who left the Dixie Chick CD in his truck although we all knew. If he had a personal motto, it would probably be “To Infinity and Beyond” because he made no secret, he had a love of Buzz Lightyear.
Among the many people that will forever remember him are his wife Karen of 30 years, his daughter Stephanie and husband Adam; their daughter Sophie and her husband Alex, his son Jason and daughters Alyssa and Jessica, his son Tyler (aka Cyrus) and wife Amanda and daughter Autumn.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. Instead of mourning, he would encourage you to laugh every day, dance with your loved ones in the kitchen and watch old classic black & white movies from time to time.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Bayada Hospice Home Health Care or a Veteran Charity of your choosing in his honor.
Arrangements are in the care of Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain in Bradford.
