Bath NH- Kendra Balch Glover 71, passed away on January 9, 2025, from complications related to cancer. She waged a courageous battle with breast cancer for over 18 years and refused to give in. Her bravery was an inspiration to the many breast cancer patients/survivors she met through the years.
Kendra was born July 3, 1953, in Hanover NH to James Balch and Elizabeth (Hardtke) Balch. She grew up in Lyme NH and graduated from Hanover High School.
On December 5, 1970, Kendra married John Glover of Hanover and had two children, John Jr. and Cecelia.
Kendra was a talented athlete, animal lover, gardener, mother, and grandmother. She excelled at basketball and softball at Hanover High School and after graduation, coached both at the grade school and high school levels. She continued playing softball and basketball in town leagues too. She also helped create and found the Lyme Athletic Fund to raise money for equipment, uniforms and help families get sporting goods they needed. Kendra was an integral part of the Lyme ski program in the 1980’s, teaching lessons, planning events and races.
She was a mother who never missed her kids’ sporting events and school ceremonies home or away. She loved her daily walk with the dogs and horseback riding on the trails in rural Lyme. She also was known for her incredible gardens wherever they lived.
Kendra and John embarked on a great adventure after their kids both entered college. They took several months and drove all over the US visiting friends, relatives and taking in the sites. This road trip led them to the southern Mexican town of Puerto Morelos, which they fell in love with and would become their second home.
Kendra began a Real Estate career in the 1980’s and continued this path when they returned from their travels and settled in Franconia NH, where she worked as a Broker Agent and made dear friends.
She and John Sr were married for nearly 45 years until his death in 2015. Being a grandmother gave her more joy than anything and she jumped at every opportunity to see her grandchildren. She was a selfless giver and fierce fighter to the end.
