Larry Bruce Thurston, 64, of White River Junction, Vermont passed away Monday, May 9th after several years of failing health. He was born in Lebanon, NH on November 18, 1951 to Pauline Thurston. When Pauline married Joe Mann, he raised Larry as if he was his own son, continuing to do so even after Pauline's death when he was 6 years old. Larry was raised in Bradford and attended Bradford Elementary and graduated from Bradford Academy in 1969. He attended Goddard College and graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in 1972. He attended Grace Methodist Church in Bradford as well for many years.In his younger years he spent countless hours hunting with the Thurston family and his dad on South Road. Larry always had a fondness for music and loved hearing his mother play her guitar and sing. Throughout his life he worked in several area businesses and several diners. It was after he graduated from college that he met his soulmate Eric. They lived in the Boston area and Chicago. They enjoyed traveling and one of the most memorable was when they went to Hawaii. When Eric passed away, Larry never got over the loss and died of a broken heart. Larry is survived by his brother James Mann, his wife Peggy, niece Chenoa Popovich, her husband Mike, their two daughters, Aliyah Grace and Kenna Faith, all from Butte, Montana. Aunts, Maxine Burgess and Ramona Thurston, Uncles Kenneth, Forrest, and Peter (Norman Sr.) Thurston, and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by both of his parents, Pauline (Thurston) and Joseph Mann, his life partner Eric, Grandparents Eva and Charles Thurston, numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. There will be a graveside service this Saturday, May 21st at 2 pm at the Sawyer Cemetery in Bradford, Vermont. There will be a reception at Maxine Burgess' home on the Lower Plain in Bradford, Vermont. The family asks that in lieu of flowers; please make donations to Hales Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. If you cannot make it to his service, please do something special for someone who is less fortunate.
