Dover, NH- Lynwood Ladd Carter, 83, of Dover, NH who died Saturday, September 12, 2015.One of 10 children born to Nathan Taplin Carter and Hazel M. (Ladd) Carter in Corinth, VT, on August 6, 1932, raised on his family's farm.Survived by his daughter Patti J. Ferri of Weare, NH; son Timothy N. Carter and his wife Denise of Somersworth, NH; granddaughters Alyssa (Ferri) Schober and her husband Brian of Stirling, NJ; Melanie (Ferri) Howard and husband Christopher of Henniker, NH; and great grandson Mason Lynwood Howard of Henniker, NH; a brother, Ned Carter and his wife Verna of Bradford, VT; Betty Osgood of North Thetford, VT; Jean Hodge of Bradford, VT; sister-in-law Brenda Carter of Corinth, VT; sister-in-law Jane (Southworth) Brown and companion Ray Champagne of Bradford, VT; several nieces and nephews and his furry companion, Brandy.He graduated from Bradford Academy in 1950 and was drafted into the US Army where he served for 3 years. He met and married Sally Ann Southworth in 1957 and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Lyn attended the automotive Technical School in Portsmouth, NH, before working for Brodhead Ford as a mechanic and subsequently Service Manager. He also worked as a service manager in another Ford garage in Rochester before his employment at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a machinist in Shop 31 for many years and retired in 1993. After his retirement, he and Sally enjoyed travelling and camping with neighbors and friends.Lyn was a member of the Masonic Lodge and recently received his 60-year pin. He was a member of the American Legion.Lyn and Sally enjoyed all family functions and rarely missed an opportunity to gather with friends, family and neighbors for sharing stories.In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, Shriner's Hospital, or a charity of one's choice.A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10 am in the First Parrish Congregational Church, Central Ave, Dover, NH. Interment will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 1 pm in the family lot in the Post Mills Cemetery in Post Mills, VT.The Hale Funeral Homes and Cremation Care of Bradford and Thetford Center, VT are in charge of arrangements.To view an online guestbook go to www.halefuneralhomes.com
