Margaret Bettman May

Orford, NH-Margaret Bettmann May, 93, known to all who knew her as Marge, passed away January 26, 2015 at Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH. She was born November 5, 1921 in Dayton, OH, the daughter of Fredrick and Marie Bettmann. Marge moved to New York as a young child. She graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1940. Marge lived in Quaker Hill, CT for many years and worked as a bookkeeper at Park RoWay. She was a parishioner at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Uncasville and a devoted wife and mother. Marge moved to Orford, NH in 1978 and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bradford, VT. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Martin "Mickey" May, whom she married on July 6, 1947. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bruce Lawrence May, and her five siblings. Marge is survived by her three children: Kenneth May of Orford NH, Sandra Collins of Oakdale CT, and Karen May of Warren NH. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on February 21st at St Joseph Parish in Woodsville NH. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held in the spring.
