Marie Eastman Ward

After her husband predeceased her in 1969, Marie and her two youngest sons moved to Fairlee, where she lived and worked for over 30 years. In Vershire, Marie was a devoted mother and community member and was known for her wonderful cooking and baking abilities. In Fairlee, she worked as a cook for Aloha Camps and Silver Maple Lodge and as a cook and baker for Roberts' Country Cooking, in Bradford and Thetford and at the Fairlee Diner. Marie was also predeceased by a son, Joey L Ward, two daughters Penny and Sherry Ward, a grandson, Robert Ward, and two brothers, Ervin and Roland Eastman. She is survived by a son Larry W. Ward and his son, Dakota Menard of Fairlee; a son Stephen R. Ward and his wife Diann; a grandson, Timothy and his wife Kelly and their two daughters Erica and Jessica Ward; and a son Harold E. Ward and his wife Wynona, all of Vershire. Marie is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Johnson of Lebanon and Verna Ervin of Vershire and various nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Vershire Town Center in Vershire, VT. Hale Funeral Home of Bradford, Vermont is handling the arrangements.
