LEBANON - Michael Alan White, 66, of Summercrest Assisted Living in Newport, NH, passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2024, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Michael was born on September 16th, 1957, in Aiken SC to Gordon and Janet White. He was the oldest of 4 boys. Growing up as an ‘Air Force brat’, he lived in South Carolina, Vermont, Michigan, New York, Okinawa, and Massachusetts. During his teen years, he proudly participated in the Boy Scouts, Troop 2, in Natick Mass. He then earned his high school diploma at Keefe Technical High School in Framingham, MA, class of 1977. After High School, he worked in the supermarket industry, finally settling in Lebanon, NH where he worked at the Price Chopper for 18 years.
Michael was an incredible sketch artist. He has drawn thousands and thousands of sketches with the subject matter ranging from trucks, airplanes, boats, nature scenes, and anything else that he imagined. He also loved The Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Michael began participating in The Special Olympics at a young age, winning gold medals in track and field in the 50- and 100-yard dash events. Later, he competed in bowling where he earned dozens of gold, silver, and bronze medals in both Massachusetts, and in New Hampshire as a member of The Upper Valley Hawks. He represented the State of New Hampshire at the National Special Olympic USA Games held in Ames Iowa in 2006.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Gordon White, and his brother Alan White. He is survived by his mother Janet White of White River Junction, VT, his brother Randy White of Grantham, NH, and his brother David White of New London, NH. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in Fairlee, VT at The Fairlee Community Church on Saturday, June 15th at 11am.
