Natalie Annette Scovel, 65 passed away on October 31st, 2026. She was born in Barre, VT, the daughter of Burton & Bessie Sumner. Natalie graduated Oxbow High School, Class of 79.
Natalie met her husband working at the Tavern Motor Inn, in Montpelier, VT. They’ve been together ever since! Though a native Vermonter, Mark & Natalie married on June 18th 1983. Shortly after marriage they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Where they raised their four children in the early 90’s. They operated a café/catering business on 8th avenue. “The 8th Avenue Café!” They also built and ran a drive-thru Espresso/shop. It was busy and successful. Natalie homeschooled all four children. And they spent every summer camping. Mark & Natalie were camp ground host at Bird Creek Campground. As a family they hiked, biked, fished, and enjoyed the great outdoors together. In 1999 Natalie returned home to build a home on her grandparents property. Mark (being a handyman and jack of all trades) his wife Natalie and the 4 children built the house together as a family! There was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. They shared many good and bad memories together. Home for the last 27 years.
She loved gardening, baking, teaching VBS, sewing, and making time to send well wishes to others. She loved sending cards on notes to friends and her church community. She was thoughtful to remember those with Birthdays, Anniversaries, Get well wishes, or praying for you! In a world too busy for the handwritten sentiment, she was old fashioned and savvy at heart! Mother to many, she will be deeply missed by those whose lives she has touched and been a part of! We can rest in blessed assurance that she is in heaven with our lord & savior Jesus! One day we shall see her again.
Natalie is survived by her husband (of 43 years) Mark, her children Simone (Lee) Kennison, Natasha (Robert) Longmoore, Jeremiah Scovel, Joseph (Katlynn) Scovel.
Her brother Bryce Sumner, his daughter her niece Hayler Sumner, Grandchildren Johnathon, Andrew, and Tyler Hayward, Rachel Longmoore, & and Kyle Scovel.
Jesus said; “I am the light of the world: Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12 ESV)
A Celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday Nov. 14th at the East Randolph Baptist Route 14 East Randolph, VT 05041 (802) 728-5764 with Refreshments following services.
