Neil P. Hibbard

Bradford, VT - Neil P. Hibbard, 78, of Bradford passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Hanover Terrace Nursing Home in Hanover, NH. He was born November 5, 1933, in Orford, NH, son of Carl W. and Bessie (Ricker) Hibbard. He grew up in Orford, NH and West Fairlee, VT and attended Thetford Academy, before leaving school to go out into the workplace. He married Elaine M. Piper on April 11, 1953. After leaving school, he worked at the Strafford Copper Mines, in Strafford, VT. When the mine closed, he began work as a carpenter for various companies, including local contractors Uline & Menard Construction, Jack Williams Construction, and Huntington Construction. Prior to his retirement he worked as a self-employed contractor with his son, Steven Hibbard, and was know for his skill as an excellent finish carpenter. A sister, Sylvia Hibbard Ross, and two great-grandsons, Samuel Earl Elliott and Andrew Thomas Elliott, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Elaine of Bradford, and their four children, Steven Hibbard and companion Miriam O'Donnell of Bradford, Sheryl Reali and companion Dennis Whitehill of Waterford, Sandra Elliott and husband Thomas of Bradford, and Sylvia McLeod and husband Emery of Bradford. Four grandchildren, Matthew Elliott of Franklin, MA, Camden Elliott and wife Melanie of North Haverhill, NH, Kristina Reali of Waterford and Alyssa McLeod of Bradford. Along with one great-granddaughter Ava Hovey of Waterford, a special niece Rachel Reinhart of Charlestown, NH, and brother-in-law Carleton Piper and wife Millie of Morrisville, VT, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may visit at the Hibbard residence on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
