Olive A. Eggleston

West Topsham, VTOlive A. Eggleston of Rte 25 passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Rowan Court Health & Rehabilitation Center in Barre, VT following a period of declining health. She was 88.Born on April 23, 1928 in Corinth, VT, she was the daughter of Fred and Vera (Monroe) Claflin.A lifelong resident of the area, she was educated at Cookeville Academy.In earlier years, she was employed in local bobbin mills where she met her future husband Ernest Eggleston. Thereafter she worked at Barre Steam Laundry, Sprague Electric, and for the past 18 years prior to retirement, she worked as a cook at the Oxbow Senior Independence Program in Newbury.She enjoyed cooking, playing cribbage, crafts, the company of her pets, and spending time with family.Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband Ernest, two son-in-laws Steve Davis and Kenneth Payne, a granddaughter Jolene Payne, two infant brothers Duane & Olin, and brother Frank Claflin.She leaves two sons Gary Eggleston and wife Linda of East Barre and Ernest Eggleston and wife Cheryl of Waits River; five daughters Alice Payne of Newbury, Holly Wheeler and husband Robert of Waits River, Carole Partington and husband David of Danville, Pamela Partington and husband Robert of Waits River, and Robin Davis and companion Larry Ackerman of No. Haverhill, NH; two brothers John Claflin and wife Juanita of Florida and Ralph Claflin and wife Mary of Orange; two sisters Olis Thurston and husband Clarence of Corinth and Junis Thurston and husband Mahlon of Bradford; a sister-in-law Diane Claflin of Corinth as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday, June 28 at Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT. Burial will follow at Waits River Cemetery.
