Bradford, VT – Otis Frank Emerson, 88, of Bradford, VT died at home on September 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Otis was born in Corinth VT on July 13, 1937, one of thirteen kids born to Frank and Edith (Blanchard) Emerson.
On November 25, 1961, he married Barbara Shover. They shared fifty-one wonderful years together until Barbara predeceased him on December 3, 2012.
Otis worked as a logger from the age of thirteen until he retired at age 72. He loved working in the woods, logging with horses at first, then with his Timberjack skidder.
Otis was an avid and highly successful hunter, he loved spending time with his beagles, enjoyed fishing, and just being outdoors. He enjoyed caring for his own animals, especially his horses and mules, watching horse pulls, going to dances, laughing, joking around and spending time with family and friends.
A few years after Barbara’s passing, Otis was fortunate enough to find a special friend and companion Sylvia Page. Together they enjoyed watching birds, playing cards, and just spending time together.
He is survived by his son Orin Emerson, Granddaughter Tonya Bean and her husband Chris, a Grandson Scott Emerson, Great Granddaughters Taylor and Caleigh Bean, and Caiya Emerson, his companion Sylvia Page, sisters Rosalie Aldrich, Gloria Williams, Martha Smith, Ruby Johnson and Florence Welch, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Edith (Blanchard) Emerson, by his siblings Warren Emerson, Robert Emerson, Gale Gendron, Rebecca Eaton, Ruth Bacon, Shirley Emerson, and Paul Emerson.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5-7pm at Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain, Bradford, VT. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 am, in the family lot in the East Corinth New Cemetery in East Corinth, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to North Haverhill Fair Association, Horse Pulls – PO Box 207, North Haverhill, NH 03774.
